As a Graduate of The University of North Carolina School of the Arts Masters Program for Scoring for Film, Television, and Gaming, as well as High Point University's Communication Department, William's continued ambition to write music goes far beyond any singular medium. William drives to write music that will create a bridge between his two favorite passions, Music and Video Gaming, by one day becoming a composer whose focus is to use music to expand the story within an interactive medium.
WILLIAM CHURCH
Composer, Creator, Musician, Artist, Educator
A Native to North Carolina, William grew up in a musical household and has had the luxury of working in music since a young age. During High School, William began writing music as an activity, and later perused music composition while at High Point University, studying under Nathan Daughtrey (ASAP) and Robert Faub. William graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Communication, with a focus in Interactive Media and Game Design and a Minor in Music Composition. Soon after graduating, William began his Master's program at the University of North Carolina School of the Art's Filmmaking Department, where he received a Masters in Music Composition for Film, Television, and Video Games. During his time at UNCSA, William studied under composer Dr. Christopher Heckman (Red Dead Redemption) and Rob Abernathy (Dead Space). While at UNCSA, William wrote music for seven student films, including Adrift which Won Best-of-Festival at the Reel-to-Reel International Film Festival in 2021. After graduation, William has continued to work with filmmaker and friend Sam Van Fossen, where he has written music for five short films, including Bad Taste, Consumed, The Killer Games, King of Spades, and Love You "Til Death", where for each film he was nominated for Best Original Score at the 48 Hour Film Festival in Richmond, winning two for Bad Taste and Consumed. William also wrote music for the feature film Fleeced which awarded him Best Original Score at the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival.

Outside of film scoring, William has also been involved with writing and teaching music to local high school bands. William has written two Marching Band shows, including Carpe Diem and Wonderland for the Wheatmore High School Marching Band. As well as several Winter Percussion Ensemble Shows, including Blackbird, Smile, and Humanity: Geppetto's Folly for the Northwest Guilford Legion Winter Percussion Ensemble. William continues to serve as the Director of Percussion at Northwest Guilford High School, where he also serves as director and show designer for the Northwest Guilford Legion Winter Percussion Ensemble.

William currently works at Southwest Guilford High School as a CTE Teacher where he teaches 3D Modeling and Animation, as well as Game Art Design.
